3T MRI Uniquely Offered by St. Mary’s
St. Mary’s was the first hospital in Southern Indiana to offer 3T MRI imaging. The 3T MRI has twice the field strength of most conventional MRI scanners and can increase the imaging resolution by 16 times, capturing images with a level of detail, clarity and speed never before possible. Simply put, it is the most powerful scanner available to patients today in routine clinical use.
The St. Mary’s 3T MRI also features CinemaVision – an integrated audio-video headset combining state-of-the art, fully digital video and symphonic quality digital audio. Transforming the patient’s MRI experience, CinemaVision is a convenient, versatile and user-friendly 3D virtual reality system. It provides multiple entertainment options from standard television, DVD, CD and AM/FM input, while offering two-way communication with technologists and dramatically reducing outside noise. The CinemaVision experience is similar to watching a high-resolution 62-inch screen from 5.5 feet away.
Some of the procedures the 3T MRI benefits include:
- Breast MRI
- Magnetic resonance angiography
- Neurological/brain imaging
- Spine studies
- Orthopedic – including shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, foot and ankle
- Prostate studies
- Pelvis studies – both male and female
- Abdominal studies
The room in which the 3T MRI procedure takes place features large floor to ceiling windows streaming in natural light to aid in a more comfortable experience. The 70 centimeter wide bore accommodates those with large body frames as well as those who find the tighter opening of other MRIs confining and uncomfortable.
